Things I have done recently

Saturday: While fasting I played some Heroclix, got my ass kicked

My team in the Starro Tournament was
Abracadabra
Dr. Alchemy
Wonder Woman
The Crimson Fox

the team came in at exactly 300 points and while I was able to take out Hourman in one game and Doctor Light in another, my team really wasn't that good. Hopefully I will get a better team next time.

After that I went to services and then came home and enjoyed eating again.

Sunday: I cooked pancakes for breakfast, saw the National Opera's free telecast of La Boeme on the Mall (which was an amazing preformance), came home and cooked dinner ( a beer and onion stew with chicken and apple sausages) for my roommates.

Monday, just as I was about to begin one new project, I got another one dumbed in my lap, so that took up a day or so extra.

Yesterday I went back to Six and I Historic Synagogue (where I had been for High Holy days) and saw Alan Alda speak. He is a really funny guy, and I got him to sign a copy of his first book. Also I think he would look really good in a smoking jacket and an ascot.

Now I sit at my desk waiting for 5:30 so I can go and get my comics.

Heroclix

Well tomorrow is the next heroclix game. It is be a nice relaxing time in a bad couple of weeks. If only I knew how large the teams had to be...oh well.

In any case let me present to you...straight from The Rack: The Comic Strip about a Comic Shop: The most amazing Heroclix figure ever.

life...in mid july

I don't know what it is...maybe it is the fact that it is over-cast outside... maybe it is the fact that the work I am doing right now is mind numbingly dull...maybe it was the fact that the internet and then the computers were down till around noon... but I just don't feel like being that productive today.

In other news I had the interview with the American Heart Association. I thought it went ok, but the guy who is in the cubical next to mine thought I did well...so... we shall see.

Also this week's comics were actually quite good. Except for Justice League 11 which was just plain, unadulterated shit. But more on that later.

Oh plus it was my 25th Birthday this weekend. I had a nice a relaxing time hanging out with my sister and playing Heroclix at Big Monkey. It was all very peaceful and I got a couple of nice presents from my family.

Anyway that all for now, I will have another couple of posts once I get back home from work.

But I should really start doing work again...sigh

Oh... my roommates have decided to hold a party this weekend. Hopefully I can get some people to stop by for a while.

It would have been so nice

Sigh... I had a wonderful post almost finished yesterday all about the comics I had purchased last week. It had pictures of all of the comics and it even used my new Todd rating scheme... but them things got messy...blogger screwed things up and the entire thing got lost. So when I write about this weeks comics I will include last weeks as well.

Other stuff that has gone on in my life since I last updated.

-played a great game of soccer on the Mall with a bunch of Jews from around town. My team won 6-4, with me scoring two goals and assisting in one other.

-went to the Torah learning session put on by DC minyan... it is called DC Beit Midrash and is alot of fun. It meet Mondays at like 7pm at the DCJCC, and is taught by whoever feels like teaching. Afterwards there is either individual or group learning and then a bunch of us go and hang out at some restaurant a few blocks away.
Plus there are alot of cute jewish girls who go. :)

I have been able to stretch my current assignment out a bit longer and will be here for at least another week. Not bad but i could use some more hours.

So thats all for now, this weekend should be nice as I will be playing heroclix on Saturday and then will be meeting up with a friend on sunday.

Oh and welcome to Colleen, GT and Brian, all from Irvine who just arrived in DC.

A New Week, New Assignment

So after a week of having a unexpected vacation, I am now back at work. In fact I am back at the same place I was at two weeks ago: The Washington DC Convention and Tourism Corporation.

-What I did this weekend-
This Shabbat was the first one that I have had where I didn't go to services in months. Instead I stayed at home, cooked myself a delicious dinner and then watch Bullit.

On Saturday I went down to Big Monkey and played in a HeroClix tournament for several hours. My starting team was:

Mon-el
Cyborg Superman
Blackhawks
Halo
Batman

at least until I opened a booster pack. Beacuse of the rules of the game we could add whatever we got to our teams. The pack that I purchased was the best one I ever got. It included:

Sentinel
Supergirl
Blackhawks
Robotman
and the best of the bunch
Dane Dorance

(an incredibly useless Pog... however there were 3 of them that we picked out of booster packs that day.)

Plus I picked up the trade paperback of Kurt Bursiks Superman: Camelot Falls arc. It was alright written (the first issue is by far the best), but the artwork is amazing.

Oh and as I have been writing this I have been looking at the Wizkids website looking at the new figures for the Legion of Superheros set.

It looks amazing!!!

Timber Wolf

Ultra Boy
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/dc/figuregallery.asp?unitid=13164

These are the two that looks the most amazing. The new cards look great and I could bubble on for a bit...but I wont. Ill leave bubbling ... but eek... it comes out this month!!!

So thats all for now, I probably should get back to work.
